the afternoon. the hour by hour forecast for you, 75 by lunchtime and 79 for the high. we are dealing with a little patchy fog out there cross the reg so do slow down and be extra careful this morning. we have a crash at the southbound lanes of crane highway at the sands highway. three lanes will be blocked at this time. expect heavy delays in that area. 97 is nice and clear, nothing@in your way traveling up towards 695. 95 going to be in great shape as well. we take a live look here at 195, traffic starting to pick up and moving right along, as you can see. on the west side of 695, this is wilkins avenue. the outer loop starting to pick up a little bit as you make the drive. that's a look at your abc 2 time saver traffic. 6:33 right now.

hundreds of u.s. soldiers are heading home from afghanistan. according to defense officials, they are the last of 2009 troop surge to leave the country. in 2009 president obama ordered 33,000 additional troops to afghanistan, their goal to stabilize the country. there are still about 68,000 american troops based in that country. sharon love hopes her daughter's story can help others who are facing domestic violence. yeardley love was killed by her ex-boyfriend in 2010. now her family wants to be sure her memory lives on. they created the one love foundation. we have spoke to sharon love about the foundation, the trial with george hughly and the jury that found him guilty of murder. sharon talked about what he said to the family during the sentencing. >> i think it would probably

have been better had he just not said anything to us. and his appearance, when we first saw him it was entirely different than what i knew him to look like. he was -- he'd morph into a young boy again and he was presented that way in court. >> hughly was sentenced to 23 years if prison. the one love foundation has released a new public service announcement, calling it the one for change. take a look at this. they are trying to further educate people on how to combat domestic violence. this is what you'll see on the air.

into the afternoon. the radar will continue to be dry but for today only, then we'll start to see changes. be prepared for wet weather into tomorrow afternoon, 79 for the high today. let's check traffic with lauren. good morning. good morning. i can't believe it's the last day of summer. it's feeling like fall out there. we have good news for those of you in anne arundel county. a crash just cleared and thefullies are really starting to dissipate as well. if you're using 95, there's nothing to get in the way from howard county all the way into the city. as we take a live look at the beltway, that's the main trouble spot here in baltimore, nothing out of the ordinary. this is parkville at hartford road, no problems on the inner loop getting down towards 95.

in washington, d.c. to support same-sex marriage in maryland. he's having a news conference at the national press club. also attending, a minister of about an 8,000 member church in prince georges county. maryland voters are deciding whether or not to allow same- sex couples to marry in our state. that issue is on the november ballot. today baltimore county is hosting its first ever animal leadership summit, learning about animal abuse in the county and task forces created, made up on local attorneys, police officers, reps from local animal shelters and societies who have dedicated so much time looking at ways to stop animal cruelty cases. happening now, take a live look at new york city. look at that line. people from all over the country line up in the big apple to take a bite out of the

a new survey found the average 30-year fixed rate fell 3.49% last week. the feds announced it would buy $20 billion in mortgage backed securies each month to spur economic activity. the space shuttle endeavor is scheduled to fly over northern california around 11:00 this morning, one hour later than originally planned. the last leg was delayed because of fog over san francisco. that's the time of year the leaves start to chain and become brilliant shades of yellow, red and orange. if you want to find where to go, there are several apps that you can use to find the best places. leafkeeper is one app, also alltrails and tree id. chekas out for the best places to go. that's right. first day of fall is storm and look like it will be a good season for that this year.

we're not seeing a whole lot, mainly clear skies as of now. as we head through the day, we'll begin to see a few more clouds pushing in. look at this beautiful sight, plenty of sunshine. we have a few high cloud in the back but beautiful day. get out there and enjoy it. more of the same this morning, sun is rising with a blue sky out there and temperatures are on the cool side. we have a lot of low to mid-50s this morning. make sure you have the jacket as you head out. high pressure is still our friend this morning but it will begin to slide off toward the east, making way for that cold front as we head into tomorrow. that's bringing us a chance for stormy weather. the storm prediction center has us in slight risk for storms. damaging winds will be the biggest threat. that will come in about 5:00,
